Meet Allan Evridge

I'm pumped up that Comcast finally has the Big 10 Network and I can watch the Badgers beat up on the soft, soft non-conference schedule that the Badgers are subjected to this season. Does hosting Marshall at Camp Randall when the Thundering Herd haven't won on the road since October 21, 2006 really count as a win?

In a big surprise to no one, the Badgers ran the ball, a lot, and four different running backs had TD scores. But the big story was QB Allan Evridge.

Every time I saw Evridge play last season, I thought about how bad, awful he is. He had never completed over 50% of his passes in a season before. But against Marshall, he actually showed a nice touch on his deep passes. When he had to thrown on the run, it was a challenge for him to get the ball within 5 yards of his intended target. But when he had time in the pocket, he was able to get a nice touch on his passes. It was a big relief to see that he actually was good at something and the Badgers have something to build around in the passing game this season.

What about the Akron Game?

First Thought: I agree the accurate throws against Marshall were important for Evridge, but what will he do against the big time teams? Does Bielema have enough confidence to allow Evridge to play fake to the RB’s and throw vertically or to the sidelines?

Second Thought: Great teams do not abound in the Big 10 and P.J. Hill will continue to take pressure off of Evridge.

Third Thought: Yup, he will be fine.
