80 Reasons to Love the Big Ten - No. 78 - You Can Work For Us Someday
No. 78 - You Can Work For Us Someday
The Association of American Universities is "a nonprofit association of 60 U.S. and two Canadian preeminent public and private research universities." Comprised of leading research institutions, it sets the bell curve on post-secondary innovation. How so? Well, "Since 1999, 43% of all Nobel Prize winners and 74% of winners at U.S. institutions have been affiliated with an AAU university."
All eleven Big Ten schools are members.
By comparison, the SEC boasts two AAU member schools.
We've got brawn and brains, baby.

Don’t diss Mr. Gator, Florida is a member. Vandy is the other.
Of the BCS conferences the Big Ten is the only one with 100% membership in the AAU.

I meant the "Royal" Mr. Gator
Just hate Florida these days, and I attribute all failings of the SEC to that team.

In case you were wondering about the rest of the FBS conferences
ACC (4 of 12)
Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia
Big East (3 of 8)
Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse
Big 12 (7 of 12)
Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M
Pac 10 (7 of 10)
Arizona, Cal, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, USC, Washington
CUSA (2 of 12) (Clearly the snootiest mid-major conference)
Rice, Tulane
MAC (1 of 13)
Buffalo
The remaining AAU schools don’t play FBS football.

hmmm
i guess my alma mater Miami (OH) shows more of a focus on “hot wealthy girls from midwest suburbs” instead of “post-secondary innovation”
I think we all know which is more important
