That is a brutal and very thorough analysis. A must read for any future opponent of the Useless Nuts. Here’s my question: can Tressel change? Is the lack of adaptation an unwillingness or an inability? If it’s an unwillingness, he may come around (or like other coaches, he may not. See Knight, Robert M.). If it’s an inability, then The Ohio State needs to determine whether they are satisfied with 10-11 wins each year and the top of the Big Ten, or whether they will look elsewhere (and if so, then where?).

It’s more of like an inability. Tres isn’t some kind of offensive genius or tactician. He doesn’t see the details which get Urban Meyer and Richrod so excited. He sees broad offensive concepts. And unfortunately for his teams, they need more focus on offensive details and scheming than he can offer.
